ABOUT ME

NATASHA LORENZEN.

As a child, I wanted to be an artist, an interior designer or an architect.

I studied graphic design and worked for insurance companies, hedge funds and on many, many magazines, but my career took on real meaning when I started working for British Homes and Gardens Magazine as the picture editor and features assistant. I realised rather quickly I wanted to be an interior photographer and took the leap and became a full-time assistant to an interior photographer. It wasn't long before I was shooting for several British magazines. I feel as if my job encompasses all the things I wanted to do as a child. One of my favourite assignments was shooting the Design Profile pages for Home Beautiful magazine. I would shoot talented designers and creatives in their studios and I would leave so inspired and energised.

Luminary began as a passion project with a creative friend. To begin with, the online magazine featured bite-sized stories covering everything from fashion to botanicals. I always wanted the magazine to focus more on inspirational creatives and in October 2021 I was a proud recipient of the Northern Beaches Arts and Creativity grant. I suddenly had the push I needed to take the magazine in the direction I had always hoped it would go and voila, the new version of Luminary Mag. emerged.

I believe the new web-based format will make it easier to read on all platforms and will make it easier for the creatives featured in Luminary Mag. to share on social media.

Word wizard and creative extraordinaire. Without her the website would never have been published, we’d still be rereading the copy and seeing endless editing mistakes.
